Monte-Carlo, Monaco: The Intro
Monte-Carlo
is one of the famous administrative areas in Monaco and is popular for
its glamour, casinos, gambling and for sightseeing of renowned people and
celebrities that often visit or live in Monte-Carlo. Monte-Carlo, founded in 1866, lies at the
Southern Mediterranean Sea Coast of France, near the Italian border, in Southern Europe. After the Vatican
City, Monaco is the world’s 2nd smallest self-governing state.
Actually, it’s 6 times larger when compared to total size of the Vatican City. The permanent
population of Monte-Carlo counts around 3,000, in total.
Monte-Carlo quarter not only includes the Monte-Carlo proper
wherein the infamous Le Grand Casino is situated, but also includes the
neighborhoods of Tenao/Saint-Roman, Saint-Michel, and the beach Larvotto.
Additionally, the border of Monte-Carlo touches the French town of the Beausoleil
as well (previously famous as Monte-Carlo-Supérieur).
Most of the “Circuit de Monaco”, where the Formula
1 Monaco Grand Prix race takes place, is located at Monte-Carlo.
Additionally, it also hosts some of the World Boxing Championship bouts,
European Poker Tour Grand Finale, the Monte Carlo Masters, World Backgammon
Championship, several lavish fashion shows and much more. One of Europe’s leading tourist destinations,
is undoubtedly Monte-Carlo City, although many major tourist attractions are
situated in other regions of Monaco (outside of Monte-Carlo), which includes
the Napoleon Museum, The Prince’s Palace, the Oceanographic Museum and
aquarium, and the Monaco Cathedral, all of them are situated at
Monaco’s capital city, Monaco-Ville. The proximity to these attractions only
lends further appeal to Monte Carlo as a playground for Europe’s rich
and famous, as well as those looking to step in their shoes!
Monte-Carlo is truly an outstanding example of a city without many
natural resources, but still able to lift itself as one of the leading
tourist destinations across the world. So, if you want to make your next
holiday unforgettable and totally full of excitement, then you better place
Monte-Carlo at the top of the list of your next holiday destinations.
